Dallas Baptist University isn't exactly a big school. Especially not when compared to rivals like UCLA. But they play like one, and last year they made it one game away from the College World Series. I had the opportunity to hang out with these guys and photograph them for story in Advocate Magazine.
They're are currently ranked 23rd, flanked by Oklahoma and Mississippi State. Not bad for a local independent school. And not only are they great ballplayers, but they strive to be great citizens as well. In 2011 the team headed to the Dominican Republic to teach baseball clinics and teach others about their beliefs. Something they try to do every few years. Next time you want to head out to the ballpark it might be a good idea to see who's playing in your own backyard.
